Parents/Guardians: Today we had reading Friday where students needed to come to class with their respective novels to read quietly. Two thirds of the class did not have their novels. Some simply forgot it at home and others still do not have a novel despite repeated reminders and opportunity to sign novels out from the school library. Advising that there is an assignment associated with the novel and students need to bring their novels to class during the assigned time.

Each year, MDJH participates in the 'Adopt a Senior' at Christmas program. Each homeroom is given a list of wish items for one senior. Our HR list includes: i) baby shampoo, ii)baby body wash iii) polident. Some of the lists are quite small while others more costly. We ask each student to bring in a donation. Students can volunteer to bring in an item on the list or they can bring in a monetary donation: $1 or $2 or whatever they wish to donate. All funds from all homerooms are put together to purchase the items on the list for all our seniors. Once the items are purchased, student council members match up the items with the correct senior and wrap or put in gift bags to be dropped off to St. Patrick's Mercy Home. We ask that donations be made by Thursday, December 6th.

Thanks you.

When students and parents/guardians check Power School you may see a mark of zero (0%) for an assignments(s). This practice is quite common at MDJH. The zero acts as a placeholder until any outstanding work is handed into the subject teacher. The reason: students and parents/guardians do not see a pseudo mark for the student. If zeros are not put in place for work/assignments not completed or handed in, the Power School mark will not reflect a student's performance. Subsequently, marks will tend to be inflated. Hence, zeros will remain in place until outstanding work is handed in and corrected. By the end of term I any work not submitted will result in a mark of zero permanently.
