Novel (Catch Me Once, Catch Me Twice) is finished. The TEST for this novel will be Monday, Dec. 10. It will be a demand essay on a question students have been given (as of today) ahead of time. They have 3 possibilities and we will be working on preparing for those answers tomorrow and Wednesday of this week before the long weekend. Students are expected to review and prepare at home to be adequately prepared.

There will also be a Content Quiz on the novel on Tuesday, Dec. 11. This will be multiple choice mostly, and possibly true/false, or fill-ins, etc based on the details of the novel from the reading in class.

On Thursday, Oct. 18, we will be having our first test on ESSAYS. Students have been given a study guide and a practice test (both available on Google Classroom along with additional tests from years past with exemplar answers for two of them). Additionally, students are currently working on a persuasive essay and can be conducting research at home if they choose. The more they do, the more time they will have in class to write the essay. This will be due at the end of October.

Students should be working on Book Talks to start presenting in a couple of weeks. Information about that was sent out on Google Classroom, but just in case you didn't get it, the important thing is that you stick to the sheet I gave out about what to discuss, and practice actually reading it. No physical project is necessary, just talk about the book making sure to cover the things on the handout.

Plotline presentations have begun and will continue on Friday. These will probably take a few classes to get through. Letters to the Prime Minister (an in-class writing assignment) are due tomorrow. Note that pictures have been sent home with information for ordering packages. Please return to the school by Oct. 17 if you are ordering pictures. Picture retake day will be on Oct. 24th.
On Friday, Oct. 19, it will be Jamarama Day and Walk to Breakfast (where students walk outside and then are treated to breakfast at the school). These events are for fundraising efforts and students are asked to make a donation of at least $2 for each event if possible.
Also, we will be having a fire drill tomorrow morning (Thurs, Oct. 11); any reminders about ensuring students are fully cooperative and acting appropriately during this drill would be helpful. The fire department will be supervising.
